$3500 Grant To Make Homes Safer For Seniors

Under its Home Adaptations for Seniors' Independence (HASI) program CMHC helps homeowners and landlords pay for minor home modifications to extend the time low-income seniors can live in their own homes  independently. Homeowners and landlords may qualify for assistance as long as the occupant of the dwelling where the adaptations will be made is age 65 and over, has difficulty with daily living activities brought on by ageing, dwelling unit is his/her permanent residence and the total household income is at or below a specified limit for the particular area.

A forgivable loan of up to $3,500 can be available if the the occupant agrees to continue to occupy the unit for at least six months. In order to qualify landlords must agree in writing that rent will not increase as a result of these upgrades. These funds can be used to install safety railing in the house or making bath tubs safer for seniors etc. etc. For further information about this program contact the BC branch of Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation at 1-800-639-3938.

If you can not maintain your properrty anymore because of your age and have decided to sell it, you can contact me and I'll help you move.
